We shall discover the heritage of part of Dolenjska region. The first destination is Kostanjevica na Krki, one of the smallest and oldest cities in Slovenia, built on an islet on the Krka river, also called “Venice of Dolenjska” due to frequent floods. Close to old centre stands the former Cistercian monastery founded in 13th cent, which houses the art gallery “Galerija Božidar Jakac” with a permanent collection of Slovene expressionists. There is also an open-air sculpture symposiums “Forma Viva”. We continue the journey along “Podgorjanci” wine-road, home of local “Cviček” wine, to Carthusian monastery of Pleterje, established in 15th century. We visit the Gothic church of the Holy Trinity - the oldest part of the monastery, the old sacristy with multimedia presentation of the monastery and we can also purchase their products, particularly famous cheese, and Pleterje pear brandy. Our next stop is Novo mesto, the capital of Dolenjska, with pleasant walk along the Glavni trg and Kapitelj hill. The final destination of the tour is Otočec, one of the most scenic settings in Slovenia.
